Who Needs April Showers?

You don't need to wait for April showers to have some beautiful May flowers. Heck, you don't even need to wait for May. These happy little bundles of sunshine were so easy and so fun to make. Sorry, I don't have an actual step-by-step tutorial for them because I made them a few weeks ago, before this blog was born. But they are so super-simple, you shouldn't really need a tutorial.

First, make yourself some pom-poms. Don't be intimidated--they are so easy! I used a clover pom-pom maker (you can find them at any craft store or sewing store), but if you don't have one and don't want to go get one, there are several tutorials out there in blogland for making them just without the magic tools. Try here: http://www.domestifluff.com/2008/10/how-to-make-pom-pom-flowers/ or here: http://www.prudentbaby.com/2011/01/how-to-make-yarn-pom-pom.html. Be warned: once you start making pom-poms, you may not be able to stop.

After you have your pom-poms, go out and gather a bunch of sticks. Grab your glue gun and put a gob of hot glue on the end of the stick, then jam it into a pom-pom. Put some florist foam into your pot, then stick the sticks into the foam. Add a little moss to hide the foam, pretty it up with a happy little ribbon if you'd like, and you're good to go. Instant flowers! And these flowers won't die! (An extra bonus, as I no longer allow myself to bring living plants into the house. I'm a serial plant-killer).

Enjoy your spring flowers!

Until next time,

Megan
